Essential Dishwasher Buying Advice – 3 Absolute Tips You Need To Know.

When it comes to buying a new dishwasher, you truly have a lot to balance out. You can easily get wrapped up with a lot of bells and whistles, but you may not get that precision that you’re looking for in a good appliance. As you start to look into purchasing one of these, make sure that you look at the following tips that will help you not only get a good appliance, but one that absolutely fulfills your needs, without breaking the bank.

Consider Size, Shape, and Interior

First and foremost, make sure that you consider the size and shape of your appliance and where it’s going to sit in your kitchen. Consider a 24 inch standard sized solution or an 18 inch compact option. As you look at the size and shape, also consider whether or not you want something that is energy efficient. If you’re not keen on paying more for utilities, than you’ll want one that is star rated, or at least utilizes 15 percent less water. Also, consider the capacity of the interior and whether or not you are going to be able to adjust the racks to fit those elongated cups, glasses, and more. One last note in this category is simple, do you want stainless steel or porcelain? Steel cleans better and is sanitary, but can cost a bit more, remember that.

The Controls and Technology

As you start to break down the options that you have in terms of dishwashers, you’re going to need to look into the control spectrum. When your dishwasher is not draining, do you want to be able to shut things down with ease, or will you want to call in a specialist every time? With that in mind, consider where your control panel will be and whether or not you want them hidden from view or up front and center. You’re going to have to make this decision based on need, especially if you have small children around that are going to push buttons when left alone, or running through the home.

At the end of the day, you’re going to need to consider the price range that you can work with. The lower end options can run you anywhere from $300 to $400 easily, and are somewhat simple. They are easy to use, easy to install, and can do the job for you well enough. Brands like GE, Whirlpool and Frigidaire come to mind in this category to start. However, you can easily raise up your features, and options up to $2300 and beyond with Viking and Miele.

One last note to consider as you look to buy a new dishwasher is in regards to the box. Make sure to ask about the box and materials that it comes in. You want to ensure that the box and packing materials haven’t been damaged or have been sitting stacked in a warehouse somewhere. If the packaging has been damaged, chances are the appliance may be dented, scratched, or dinged. Consider the warranty when thinking about this, and make sure that you either have a full 1 year, 90 day, or third party extended warranty to give you a bit of peace of mind.
