10 Amazing Things You Probably Didn’t Know Your Dishwasher Could Clean

dishblog

If you thought the dishwasher was simply amazing and couldn’t get any better, I have news for you. In fact I have 12 reasons

that will prove that it can get better. Yet, before we go there, let’s just take a second to reflect on the fact that growing up, you

were, by default, your parent’s personal dishwasher. Can you remember the endless hours (there was a lot of people in our

house) of cleaning dishes? On a good day 98% of the dishes n the house was out of the cabinet and on the table waiting to be

washed. On a bad day, 100% of the dishes were out of the cabinet and on the table along with a few more that did not even belong to us!

I care not explain that any further.

However, as an adult, it was mandatory that before I could call a place home, it must have a dishwasher.  Considering that

today they are as common as grass growing outside, your first home, and any home thereafter, is most guaranteed to have one.

So, now your kids do not have to inherit your struggle.

The dishwasher takes care of cleaning the dishes, but that’s actually not all it does. Here are several things that you can wash in your dishwasher that’s guaranteed to make life that much more of a breeze.

None of the items are dishes, so please be sure to remove all dishes, clean before and prior washing any of these items.

Toys (this also includes pet toys, but separate cycles, of course)

If your little one is anything like mine, I’m sure there are endless numbers of toys around your home. Well, take the plastics one, soft toys and battery-operated items not included, and toss them into the dishwasher with some detergent.

Baseball Caps

Hubby has that one cap he won’t let near the washing machine because he learned the hard way of just what will happen? No stress, the dishwasher is much more gentle, but remember to use the top rack!

Rain Boots

Dancing in the rain does not count as cleaning. Add a bit of baking soda and watch how they come out squeaky clean.

Garden tools

We can only imagine how grimy they can get. Good news: if the handles are plastic, ceramic, or rubber, the dishwasher can handle that just don’t forget the detergent.

Flip-flops

Yep, toss them in, add detergent, and voila!

Fan Blades and covers (Plastic only)

I found this particularly interesting. Growing up, we definitely had plastic bladed fans, and I can remember having to disassemble and clean with hot soapy water, then re-assemble. Oh my, it was such a dusty, and messy task.

Just imagine if we had a dishwasher, those blades would have been clean in no time, and less a mess, all in one cycle.

Kitchen Sponges and toothbrushes

Sometimes the cleaner needs to be cleaned. Place sponges on the top rack and use detergent.

Toothbrushes on the other hand, a completely separate cycle is required. Place the in the silverware slot and let the hot water roll, sans soap.

Hubcaps

Ladies, share this with your fellas, it’ll save some time and hard work. Be sure to load the hubcaps on the bottom rack.

Sports Equipment

Sports equipment, like pads and shin guards can be cleaned as well in a jiffy! Just add soap.

Microwave Plates and Refrigerator Shelves

I’m not sure about you, but both are the bane of my cleaning existence when cleaning the kitchen. Looks like that’s going to change. The dishwasher can handle them both, be sure when cleaning the microwave plate, it’s placed on the bottom.

Potatoes

Nix the detergent and you’re on your way!

Salmon

To be exact, you can cook salmon in your dishwasher.

Yes, it has been done.

Wrap it in aluminum foil, stick it on the top rack, and run it through a cycle, sans soap. Bon A Petit!

Amazing huh? I agree! Perhaps you have a few more reasons to share confirming just how amazing the dishwasher is. Please, share the wealth!
